The goal of this Kickstarter is to fund the production of a full-length graphic novel.
When Sam opens his eyes after dying, he expects to see heavenly clouds or hellfire. What he’s faced with instead is “The House” – a surreal and often-dangerous afterlife of interconnected rooms. As Sam travels deeper into this new world, he finds the strange creators of these rooms aren’t the only residents of The House. Here there be monsters, and if he isn’t careful, Sam’s stay will take a horrible turn.

Indie comics are labors of love that defy mainstream expectations for storytelling, style, content and art. They encourage readers to support the comics they like, not just the comics backed by large publishers.
We hope to enforce the effort of indie comics by showing just how quality-driven and worthy of attention they can be—but for this to happen the right way, we’re going to need some help in funding it properly.
The finished product of THE DEAD will be a 170-page Graphic Novel that includes the full story of our characters and a good amount of bonus materials for our readers (from script-to-illustration examples to concept sketches of the characters and settings). The book will be in full color and will be created entirely by James (writing/lettering) and Jen (illustrations/color).
Ultimately, THE DEAD would be a story that we’d like to visit in subsequent volumes, but the self-contained storyline of this particular run would be held in our first collection of six issues. The success of this campaign will show whether later stories will be an option, but for now, we’d like to focus on telling the original story that was in mind upon starting this whole process.
Of course, readers and contributors are our big heroes for this project, so allow us to give a HUGE thank you in advance. You all are the best! Thanks for allowing us to make this happen.
