The 2014 Colorado Brazil Fest Boulder Samba School is seeking your support for the 3rd annual Colorado Brazil Fest! This is the only large-scale event in Colorado dedicated to Brazilian culture. During four days of immersion, participants will experience the great diversity of Brazilian music, dance, and culture, meet others who share the same artistic interests, and find opportunities to get involved. Over the last two years, we have brought the magic of Brazilian culture to over 3,000 participants, and with your monetary support this year we can continue to serve a growing Brazilian music and dance community in the Front Range. My name is Sophie Argetsinger and I'm an artist and book designer living in Holyoke, MA. With this Kickstarter I hope to raise the funds to print and distribute my latest collection of drawings, a short graphic vignette in pen and ink called Creation Myth: A Tale from Beginningless Time. The story follows the 1,084th Conference of Creative Beings, an event during which celestial beings create the living creatures that will populate planet earth. They do this by playing various strange musical instruments. The finished book is 28 pages, 8.5 x 11", and each softcover copy will be printed on Mohawk Superfine paper and hand bound. Mark Weber started Pianos in Public Buffalo for the purpose of making people around Buffalo—locals and visitors alike—feel good. As a singer and musician, Weber loves music, and found that taking old uprights from the 1890s – 1930s, painting them colorfully, and placing them in unexpected, public places outdoors enabled literally hundreds of thousands of people to “make a joyful noise.”In the spring and summer of 2013, Weber acquired several pianos thanks to generous donors. In his garage, he and his friends did the necessary work to paint the pianos. Then, Tom Miller and his strong crew from Miller Piano Service did a lot of heavy lifting, moving nearly a dozen pianos around town for various outdoor (and a couple indoor) locations.
