The Return of Upcoming.org by Andy Baio

Kickstarter Updates
Over ten years ago, in September 2003, I launched a little website called Upcoming.org into the world. Upcoming was a collaborative event calendar focused on interesting arts and tech events around the world. Entirely curated by the community, Upcoming surfaced weird and wonderful events that usually fell under the radar of traditional event listings from newspapers and local weeklies. Most importantly, it surfaced what your friends were interested in attending. Upcoming was among the first generation of web apps to use the social network for anything beyond Friendster-like connections, helping to define Web 2.0.   Upcoming in 2007 After the first year, my friends Gordon Luk and Leonard Lin joined me as co-founders to help expand it. As Upcoming took off, we decided to sell it to Yahoo in 2005, hoping they could provide…

Monkey Chef #2 by Mike Freiheit

Kickstarter Updates
Interior Page from Monkey Chef #2 Monkey Chef is a collection of short, autobiographical stories about my time spent working at a primate sanctuary in Pretoria, South Africa. I was the chef for both the monkeys and the humans.  All of the finished pages from Monkey Chef #2. Whew. I lived in South Africa for nine months. My original intention was to make a book of drawings and paintings with stray observations, but after returning home, I realized that all the encounters and experiences I had would be best suited for comics. They were just too strange and particular. Last year I successfully printed the first issue of Monkey Chef #1, which was made possible by the nice folks who donated to my original Kickstarter campaign.About 80% of my goal is going toward…

Regime’s New E.P by Theo Grimshaw

Kickstarter Updates
With fresh new songs under their belts, Regime headed to the studio with hopes of one day becoming excruciatingly famous. Earlier this year Regime spent just over a week at Mwnci Studios working on their new record. Having recently relocated to Bristol they have started to build a larger fan base and hope that this release can take them to the next level. Last summer saw them play a host of exciting shows including: Glastonbury, Boomtown, Shambala and support slots with Scroobius Pip,…

Archibald The Toy Acrobat by Matthew Hitzelberg

Kickstarter Updates
STEP 1:  Hold Archibald by his base as if you were holding a spray bottle.STEP 2:  Gently apply and release squeezing pressure.STEP 3:  Try to contain your excitement.  Otherwise, your squeals of joy may alert your child to the use of their toy.Archibald was once the top ranked acrobat in his hometown. That was until a bizarre pb&j accident left him scarred with performance anxiety. Now, Archibald needs a helping hand to perform his acrobatic feats (please see video for what he is capable of). Don't worry, he still has a mind of his own. Even though you can change his routine by altering your squeezing pattern, you never know exactly what he will do. Natural Painted All joking aside, Archibald is my version of a traditional toy.  When my…

ANOUSHEH: the New Album by Anousheh

Kickstarter Updates
Hi,My name is Anousheh, and I need your help! Some of you may already know me as the singer from the Deep Dish EDM hits "Say Hello" and "Flashdance". Others may know me as a singer/songwriter from Richmond, VA, playing gigs at Gallery 5 and Balliceaux with my band. The truth is, it's complicated. I have always been a singer/songwriter, and I was fortunate enough to collaborate with DJ Duo Deep Dish back in 2006. We had some amazing success together, including 2 international hits and a Grammy Nomination!  Since that time, I've seen myself through a difficult MS diagnosis, a dead-end record deal, and a few other musical ups, downs and bumps in the road. It's taken some time, but I am proud to say that inspiration has found me again and I…
